Subject: I need a "High E string" for double bass
I tune my bass in fifths, CGDA, an octave below the cello.
See the three classical double bass web sites below for
reasons.
I would very much like to find a good grade of high E
string so I can tune one of my basses GDAE.
Regarding the tuning, the G, D and A are easy to find.
The G is one step below the usual double bass A. I turn
solo set F# up 1/2 step. The D is a usual orchestral D,
the A is from the standard solo set, one step above the
usual double bass G string. The High E is a third above
the usual "High C" string that some jazz bassists use.
However, there is no way I can turn the High C string up
three notes without breaking something. I need the E string!
Does anyone on this list know where I might find a string
manufacturer who might be persuaded to make several
such strings for me?
Warm Regards,
